Oil Seal

So spawning from this thread
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...e-install.html

And onto the inner hub oil seals (4250's), whats the preferred method for you guys to driving these in ? I tried last night to tap one in gently with a rubber hammer, but there was a tight spot that I just couldn't get around to even out the seal , any tricks or whazoo methods ? The back side of the bearing driver disc dosent seem like an option due to the rubber lip that would be smashed ?

Use the tools you bought as shown in post 21, but make sure to use one wide enough to rest on the metal lip.

It shouldn't affect the rubber lip at all.

Line up the seal over the hub and +/-3 taps of a normal hammer should do it.

A rubber hammer is too soft.

Then, wipe the rubber seal, and the surface the seal will rest on, with diff oil, or do that just before you refit the hub.

Good luck !

You're not overthinking at all !

You're being cautious coz it's your first time.

It gets easier with practice.

If worst comes to worst, and you f$$k it up, fine, just get another one.
