Data plate decode
Data plate decode
Hello fellow FTE's
First post here. I recently acquired a "barn find" that I have known since a kid. Belonged to a neighbor who was a grandfather figure when I was growing up. Was originally in Kentucky but has been relocated much farther south. I am curious about the vin plate decode. Not sure what my plans are but I have some ideas.

This truck was built prior to '64, which is as far back as I can go with my documentation, but I'll take a stab at a few things:
F10 = F100 2WD
J = 223 I6
114 = wheelbase (shortbed)
H = Lorain, OH assembly plant
L = dark green
Trim code is missing
A = 3 speed manual trans
11 = cannot decode axle code
5000 = GVWR
114 = certified net HP at 3600 RPM.
No District Sales Office code implies a special order
We'll have to wait for NumberDummy or someone else with the ability to decode earlier warranty plate codes to fill in the blanks.

No it doesn't.

No it doesn't.No BODY code on 1961/62's.
1963 BODY code has the actual body style listed: Uni Standard/Custom Cabs: 66A/66B // Conventional Cabs: Standard/Custom Cab: 81A/81B
1961/62's only have a DSO code if the truck was a Domestic Special Order.
Well not a good start to resurrecting this truck. We had a tree blow down in a recent storm and although thankfully did not hit our house, fell on the truck. Could have been much worse but the passenger side b pillar is caved in. Not going to be easy beating that out.

That's a sad sight for sure. My wife tears up at random baby stories, and i thought is share emotional trauma with her by sharing this story, but she looked at like i look at her baby stories. All heart here.
