Its great seeing another truck rolling out just in time for summer. You did a very nice job on it. I don't know how you pulled it off for $10K, I'm at least 3 times that, but I'm sure it's because I didn't have a clue and you did. Anyway congratulations, it came out beautiful, you should be proud of all your hard work and finally being able to drive it. Good luck on the inspection. Way to Rock and now Roll it.

Summit Racing single stage satin black.

Seats and door handles are PT Cruiser. Corvette tail lights.

So I took it for a drive today. First 4 miles went great, then it started sputtering and stalling. Seems to start up and idle good but stumbles in drive(fmx auto). The transmission is the only thing I didn't rebuild. It shifts very hard if hard on the throttle. Vac leak, maybe.
The battery was only at 12.2V and 12.3 running so maybe the alternator is not charging and not enough voltage to keep it running.

sounds like a better than average shack down cruise. Very nice truck. I've never had a trip to the DMV go like I imagined so replace all your expectations with plenty of patience and smile and good luck.

Congrats on getting it together and on the road.

With the battery at 12V it should still have enough juice to power the ignition. Typically you don't get stumbling and misfiring until you get down around 10V or so. Still, its easy enough to check if the alternator is charging. Give it a rev or two and see if the voltage comes up any. If not, then there's a problem.

I don't know much about FMX's but a vacuum leak can definitely have an effect on shift points. How's the idle? When you give the truck a slight rev does it immediately return to idle? or does it float around a bit and then drop? or stay high? Sure signs of a vacuum leak.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll get it straightened out in no time
Bobby
