My first towing trip

I have a 2017 F-250 6.7 sb pulling a 9 thousand pound Plus trailer, I went on a 2,500 trip from LA to Oregon and back.

This truck tows like a beast, I was pulling the trailer at 65 going up hill to pass all the truckers that were going 40 or less.

I find it strange that when I put the truck into tow/haul the truck seems to roll really sluggish when I take off but if I take it out of tow /haul mode it seems to roll free-er.

I also know that I was getting better mileage in tow/haul mode than not, I know this because I forgot to put the tow/haul mode on and after I did the mileage went up.

I also got between 10.5 and 12.5 pulling the trailer with most times getting 11.5 on average. This was going up hill and down hill and averaging 60 mph after I filled up each time.

I traded my Tundra 5.7 in for the F-250 and I feel that the stance is much better and stopping was better on the F-250 after all the Tundra is just a 150 Plus.

It comes with a 3.31 because it's a short bed, I was told that's all you could get.

It could be a 3.31 or 3.55. They are an option also. If you have a Platinum, the only ratio allowed with the 6.7 is 3.55s.

If you have factory 20s, you are only allowed 3.55s. If you have 18s, the have the option of a 3.31 or 3.55. Gas trucks have more options.

What I found to be most impressive (I recently just towed my 10k trailer for the first time this weekend as well) is how the truck will hold 6th gear, going up hill, with the cruise set at 80 mph. The turbo builds boost and the truck maintains speed. I was quite impressed as my 2016 F150 would frequently drop 3 or 4 gears and still not maintain speed.

Glad to see your post... we currently have a 2011 F250 that is a pulling beast and we are waiting for the arrival of the new 2017 F350 that we anticipate will not disappoint in the towing ability!
Congrats on your new truck!!
