Truck cap prices

I would like to eventually put a fiberglass cap on my 2016 Lariat. Nothing fancy, just one like the picture below. What would I be looking at price wise for something like that? It's a 6.5' bed.

I was also looking into the soft caps or canvas caps (second pic on the Tundra). They look like they have a lot of advantages over a hard cap but some disadvantages also. Anyone have one and would like to comment?

Hard Caps probably start around $1600. I like the look of the canvas ones, but IDK if it'd be the right fit for a Lariat!

I thought about that. Not all that sold on them but, as I say, they do have some advantages.

I will be picking up my 2017 F-150 this weekend or early next week. I already have on order a Leer 100XQ, which is their top-of-the-line cap. I added the options of a removable front sliding window and Thule rails to the roof. There is a rebate right now for the removable front sliding window is basically free, and the dealer I'm getting it thru has an "$80 off" coupon. Price is $2315 +tax. Standard cap, no options is $2194. I have the Leer 100XL on my current truck and love it. I resisted a cap for a long time and had a hard tonneau cover on 2 Rams, my '04 F-150 which I moved to my '07, then bought the Leer in 2011. I'll never have a truck without one again.

I have the Snugtop Sporter (or something like that). You can see pics in my gallery. It's pretty loaded too and was in the $2,400 range.

However, I strongly recommend staying away from Snugtop. I went with Snugtop as my previous topper had better fit and finish than the Leer I owned on another truck. However, I've had multiple quality issues and will never buy a Snugtop again. Bad paint (had to return to factory for 6-8 weeks), bad sub components (window is deformed and leaks) and horrible build quality (one of the latches for the front folding window is messed up).

So sorry to hear about the snugtop problems. It looks like a nice cap and just the style I'm looking for. Well, it will be a while before I can do this so I have plenty of time to search one out. Thanks for the honest input and I hope you solve your problems soon.

I've had fiberglass caps on all of my previous pickups and in general was fairly happy with them all. However, my comments aren't about the caps themselves but rather about the current truck - a 2017 F-150 Lariat 6.5' bed. The cap can be as watertight as a well digger's a**hole but the truck bed leaks like a sieve. When driving in the rain water runs down the inside bed sides from around the factory bed lights and the switch. There are several places where the bed floor meets the wheel well that you can see the ground through the spaces (easy enough to fix with caulking). I have the tailgate step. Water runs down the inside of the tailgate from the area where the step assembly meets the top of the tailgate. And finally, quite a bit of water enters the bed through the space between the back edge of the bed and the bottom of the tailgate. Ford Accessories even sells a tailgate weather-stripping kit just for this problem.
All I'm saying is that it doesn't matter what type of cap or tonneau you buy; if you drive in the rain on the interstate, stuff in the bed will get wet unless you take precautions.
