Century or Leer truck cap?
I have a 2006 F150 supercab and I am wanting to put a cap on it, low profile. frameless windows and a front slider.. I was wanting to get some input on a truck cap, I have seen Century caps on the ford but it does not blend right at the top to my that is, seems narrower. Has anyone had a Leer and if so is it liked? how well does it form to the cab of the truck? Or does anyone have any input on another brand cap? PLEASE HELP I would like to get 1 ordered soon. Thansk.

I just picked up my ARE cap. It looks really nice on my 04 Screw. The paint matches perfectly and I was able to buy it locally. I also have a Century on my old truck and it has held up pretty good. Nothing major as far as repairs. I have had to replace the rear window handle twice. Other than that it has been a real good cap.

I have the very type of Leer you describe on my 2008 Screw. I had a similar Century on a 1999 F 250 SD for 8 years. I think both are attractive and well made. If I had it to do over, I think I would go with the A.R.E. for the simple reason I feel that their fit and finish is just a wee bit better than the other two. That said, I don't think you would be disappointed with any of the three mentioned. The Leer that I have gives the truck an SUV like appearance, very smooth transition from bed to cab, perfect paint match. Hope this helps. BTW I''m in S.E. Michigan, and the cap still looks new having survived two winters.

Have had both the Leer and A.R.E. IMHO A.R.E. is better built, much heavier hinges etc.. some people dont like the edge trim on the bottom but the edge of the Leer is very fragile and since I take mine off quite often the A.R.E holds up better. Both are expensive, get a sliding tip down front window in the shell, it allows you access to clean the back side of cab glass. What is amazing is used all of these shells are just about worthless, you can find them for 500 often, might have to repaint but a new one with bells and whistles is 2000+.

I have had Leer, ARE, Century, and lately Eagle caps. Of all that I've had, Leer was the worst in terms of quality. It was good, but I had trouble keeping the back glass latched when towing the trailer on rougher roads. The last two caps I have had have been Eagle. Check them out at Eagle-Quality Fiberglass Products. They seem to be the best in terms of quality and ruggedness and were also the least expensive. I live in north central Indiana and the Eagle factory is 20 miles from my house. I ordered it on a Monday and on Thursday I picked it up at the factory. The paint matched perfectly of both of them that I've had. I got mine with the tip in front window so that I can wash the back window of the cab. My neighbor has one on his 95 F150 that he has had since new and it is holding up really well.

I have a Leer 100R for sale!!! Great deal. Looking to get $650. It has only been on the truck for about 10,000 miles. I have no use for it and it is just sitting in my garage. I live in Youngstown, Ohio which is about 4 hours from you. I would be willing to meet half way if you are interested!! Let me know. I can send you pics if you would like. This is for the 6.5FT bed and it is the dark stone color.
