Has anyone had any experience with these? I emailed back and forth and spoke with them. They guarantee no steering slop, since they use oversize bearings, and machine and polish to fit. I just ordered it. $826 UPS'd to my door. $350 of that is core charge, so hopefully I'll get that back.
I replaced the box on my 79 Bronco a few years ago. It was not leaking, but had way too much slop in it. The first cheapo rebuilt box was worse. The second one worked out. The box on my F150 is still in fair shape, with just a little bit of a "wander spot" at the top, but it's spraying fluid out the input shaft seal. I helped a buddy "rebuild" one years ago, and I'd rather soak my giblets in sulfuric acid than do that again.
Did mine about 6 months ago (74 F-100 2wd). Couldn't be happier with how much it improved my steering. I too was leaking fluid out of my gearbox. I replaced pump and hoses at the same time. Mine wasn't quite as expensive as yours (can't remember exactly how much) but I would absolutely go that route if I was doing it again.
I've got one waiting to be installed (I'm waiting on a Hydroboost part to show up), I noticed that the "slop" adjustment screw on a RH is removed. Their document says it's not something you'll ever have to do on their steering boxes.
I've bought one and will never again. Mine was sloppy day one and they wouldn't do anything about it. I sent a video and he said thats normal. Funny thing is we have 2 other trucks and several other spares that are tighter than the one they sent. The one thing I will give is it's nice and clean with no leaks whatsoever.
