Bambi vs the front bumper
Bambi vs the front bumper
Bambi lost - it wasn't a fair fight though my truck suffered some minor injuries. The front bumper needs to be pulled off and, if at all possible, the dent bumped out though most likely it will need to be replaced. With a $1K insurance deductible, not worth my time as I can do the repairs, including a good aftermarket bumper and one fog light for much less then that thousand out of pocket.
All I can find out are that are 4 fasteners/side that hold the bumper face in place. Is that correct? Also the fog light wiring need to come loose. Is that on the driver's side?

I just added factory fog lights about 6 months ago. The harness clips in the top side of the flange on the bottom of the bumper. It goes to a plug, I believe on the drivers side frame horn if I remember correctly. Just follow the harness, its obvious.
I just returned from a trip to the KY, IN, OH border, its obvious our number in hunters are dwindling, I saw well over 20 suicidal deer on the interstate in a 3 1/2 hour trip.

Thanks - that helped. And the bolts were as I suspected - 4/side.
Unfortunately, Bambi hit at about the strongest part of the bumper and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix that dent except with an 8 pound sledge which means I'll be several hundred buck poorer.
I was just in NJ/PA and NY and as you say, suicidal deer are growing in numbers. With adding mine, probably 50 or more bodies on I87/84/81 and 88 over 700 miles. The one I hit on I88 was within 2-3 miles of one that I killed about 5-6 years ago going the opposite direction but that time only cracked a piece of wheel well molding. Many fewer hunters here as well. Our manufacturing building 40 years ago was virtually a ghost shop opening week from what I heard - I too went but the ol' knees wont take it now.
Update: A 4 pound engineer's hammer and some wood blocks fixed it about 98% back to original. Still a couple spots but they are low enough that you would need to look carefully to see them. Just waiting on the new fog light and bulbs now.
