Hello, I need some help here. About 1000 miles ago I installed a Motorcraft Zero Loss Brake Booster on my 1994 F250 PSD. It made a huge difference and I was hoping my troubles were over. Today, I unhooked a trailer and when I got back in the truck the brake warning light was on. The pedal was firm like the vaccuum line was disconnected from the booster. It wasn't. But there is a noticeable hiss coming from the top of the booster at the seam. At 60 mph the brake warning light goes away and the first press of the brake feels and stops normally. If I press the pedal more than once, the light comes back on and the pedal becomes very firm. Does this sound like my new booster has failed or should I be looking at the vaccuum pump?? Thanks for any help
1st check the vacuum pump with a vacuum gauge. If it checks out the booster should be warranty. Mine has no hiss at the seal and it has been on my truck for about two years. ( mine is ford oem o-loss )

Do you know what the vacuum level should be? I will need to get my hands on a gauge.
What farmert said. 19 in or better. Mine checked at 22 in on a new pump
Update: I exchanged my brake booster with another new one from Rockauto. Same problem so it's not the booster. I haven't checked vacuum yet but when I pull the vacuum hose on the booster there is a noise coming from the vacuum hose, More than just a suction sound. Is this normal?? I still feel vacuum from the hose but need to measure it.
Do the new boosters come with their own check valves, or are you reusing an existing one? That's about the only piece left to the puzzle.
Both new boosters came with a check valve already installed so I have not had to even remove the check valve for install. When I installed my second zero loss booster yesterday, it had a lower softer pedal initially. I went around the block playing with the brakes and it wasn't long before the pedal was firm and stayed firm. This is frustrating...
I asked earlier, should there be a noise coming from the vacuum line when disconnected from booster check valve? Its almost like a whining sound.
I've got it all back together and working! Looks like there might be a bad batch of Motorcraft boosters out there. The third booster I received from RockAuto works perfectly and everything is back to normal.

Are you saying you have two check valves in the system: one with the new booster and the original one still in place. If so, could this be why the new pumps were giving problems?
