Would sure like to know the difference. My conclusion is the push pins are just a tad too small (narrow). There is a fat part the pin slides in and I think it is fairly snug until it works loose.

I found mine in my glove box after having bed liner sprayed on. My tailgate doesn't rattle without them.

Push pin for bumper stop

I know this is a old thread, I will give it a try. I accidentally broke the pin holding the bumper stop to the bed on my 2018 F-350. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement pushpin?

Thank you.

I have the same problem so I made these and am going to try them out. I hope they fit through the holes they are 1/8 toggle bolts.

I took out my taillights to gain access to the back side of the holes then just put a small bolt with washers in place of the push pins. Haven’t come out since!

I used plastic blue sleeve anchors as a temporary fix. Let me know if those work. Seems like a more permanent option.

My toggles bolts are too big to fit through the holes. Snowman’s idea is the solution.

Mine have been off my 2017, in the back door pocket since the truck was 3 weeks old and had the bed liner sprayed in.

I had one fall off and never put it back on. Someone posted back in 2017 or so that the bumpers were for shipping. I don't know if that's true, but they sure weren't fastened to last forever.

I didn’t go out to look at my truck. In the above picture (1st post) it seems that the metal may be thick enough to run a tap through the existing hole and cut a few threads and then just run a bolt through the rubber piece. Just a thought.

Just a thought, but if they are only there for shipping why does Ford have them available for purchase? One of mine apparently fell off and went missing, I just noticed this yesterday, and the price online is ridiculous.

When one forum member complained that his fell off, the dealer came back and said they were for shipping. I'm not convinced that they really are, I'm just letting you know what was said early on.

Found a solution!

Order the OEM part (Tailgate Stop Bumper - Ford (FL3Z-99439A00-A)) on the back or the bumper there is a hole and inside is the push pin. Just insert the rubber tip into the hole on the truck and push that pin in. It will spread the pin open inside the hole so the bumper does not pop out and is snug. This solved the problem for me. Hope this helps!

Both bumpers on my F350 fall out every once in a while. I'll do the nut/bolt fix when it bothers me enough. Until then, it'll just annoy me. LOL
