I have trolled this site and can't find the info on a 49..Can any one tell me or point me in the right direction. what the wiper sweep angle is on a 49 F1 please. This is not a vacuum set up. Thanks
Yes its after market.. It has a wiper kit on it but the whole thing is a botch and is worn badly. The motor in there is a 110 but the wipers have very little sweep. Unless you set the park half way up the screen you just aswell not bother having wipers as they clear so little of the screen and what they do clear is all at the bottom and nearer the centre of the screen.
Sorry all I know is the motor has 100degrer 12volts on it..that is all I can see on the motor..and the wiper arms are straight there is no sweep on the arms
If you pull the wiper assemblies from the splined armatures protruding through the cowl and then reinstall the wiper and arms back on in a higher position relative to the cowl. This might give you a better view.
Yes ive done that Mervy49 and they still jam up..like i say i think the whole linkage is worn out. And needs revamping. so im thinking ill fit a worm drive system for the time being and make the linkage a little project to revamp when im bored. i got too much going on at the moment and need working wipers so i can use the truck..Hence why i was wanting to know the wiper sweep.
There are braces under the dashes of 48-50's that make fitting anything else under there a PITA, but being in UK you may want to look into the use of a cable drive system. Like used on Jags, MGs, etc.
Note you can also just disconnect the passenger side wiper if the two blades are running into each other.
I have a RainGear Wipers setup on my 56 and it is very well-made. Not sure what they have for the 49 but they advertise that they support 48-56 trucks.
