That's cause back in those days neighbors liked each other.

When I was a kid my parents built a fence around the back yard. It had two gates. The gates went to the neighbors yards. Probably don't see that much now.

Our yard here has three gates, one of those gates goes to the neighbors that live behind us. The other two gates go to our side yards.

I know I wouldn't be putting a gate that went to the neighbors yard.

Yeah where i grew up the house was built about 5' from the road and about 10' from the neighbor..

No standards on where you could place a building
