In the South, they eat dandelion salad. I've never tried it but Patty said when she was a kid an old black woman would ask if she could pick their dandelions. She would pick the yard clean.

Some of the Italian women used to pick it up in Red Lake and I used to see them pick it in Toronto when I lived there. The say the leaves are very tasty from the young plants but the older ones are bitter. I've never tried it..
