Did that for a Bradford pear that blew down in a storm in 01. Another tree grew back in its place.

Bradford pear is a grafted tree. A regular pear grew from a root in the ground.

Burning it should prevent that...LOL
Then all you have to worry about is a bird crapping a seed there...

We did get fruit from the tree. Had I cut the sprouts off at the ground the last time I wouldn't have a tree there now.

Fruit plants are the only ones I like in my yard.. At least you get fruit for your hard work keeping them trimmed and cleaning up after them

Only the back yard is fenced in. the pear tree is growing next to my driveway in the front.
