Working on a '65 F250 and trying to install a side gas tank from a '72. Does anyone have a diagram of how this pile of brackets and straps go together to put this in the truck?
I spent a couple hours under the truck and it's kinda close to fitting, but I believe I am missing some brackets or mounts.
Thanks

There's no related diagram or parts, because...
No 1966 or earlier pickup came with a factory installed auxiliary fuel tank. The only tank these trucks (1956/66) came with, was the in-cab tank.
Factory installed auxiliary tank introduced in 1967 F100/350.
1967/72: Factory installed auxiliary tank mounts on the inside of the left frame rail. 1967/69 tank has the fuel filler tube/fuel cap located above the scallop (bumpside) line.
1970/72 tank has the fuel filler tube/fuel cap located below the scallop line.
i have one on my 69 that doesn't work because someone cut all the hoses to try to steal gas, there wasn't any in there but they don't care . so how do i get replacement hoses?

The vent hose was part number C7TZ9170A. Discontinued. It was 3/4" I.D. fuel hose 16.5" long. This can be had at local parts stores sold by the foot in bulk form. Or you can buy the C7TZ9170A here:

The filler hose was part number C8TZ9047F. Discontinued and none on my locators. Recently another FTE'r bought one for a Dentside and adapted it. I don't remember who. I believe he cut it in 1/2 and clamped a piece of metal exhaust pipe in the middle to lengthen the hose.
The vent hose was taped to the filler hose, and a tech told me years ago that if the filler hose was replaced with a 'gypo' hose and it wasn't taped to the vent hose, the vent hose could collapse.
This same jazz also applies to 1973/79 mid-ship & aft axle tanks that were a notorious slow fill from day one.

I don't remember ever seeing the C8TZ hose. I remember seeing and selling quite a few of both D5TZ hose assemblies. You are right. I remember those were taped together and also a metal protector guard taped on. I believe about the vent hose collapsing. From memory I don't think there was a hole lot of webbing molded in to the 9170's rubber. I am assuming current aftermarket 3/4" fuel hose would have the webbing in it.

Yes, I understand all of this, but the frames are practically identical, so I thought it would be worth a shot.
