Third Fuel Tank
It has three gas tanks. The third is between the frame and the bedside on the right in the front. I dropped it to the ground this morning. It is plumbed to above the factory tank. I can't see a thing above the factory tank where some sort of connection is made. The tank selector on the floor is the normal one and I see no more gas line.
Do you think there is just a "T" above the tank and it drew from both? I am tempted to just put a bolt in the line and clamp it down but I don't want to cause future problems. I hate to drop the factory tank as we all know what a PITA it is.
I would have just left it but what was inside was 90 percent rust and I have a feeling the reason I had to change the fuel filter twice.
Anyone have any ideas?
1967/69: The fuel cap pokes thru the quarter panel (bedside) above the scallop (bumpside) line.
Inside the bed, there is a shield that protects the fuel filler tube from possible cargo damage.
Manually operated fuel selector valve on the floor, adjacent to the drivers side of the seat.
Mounted to a bracket under the dash to the left of the steering column is a toggle switch that only changes the fuel gauge from the in-cab tank to the auxillary tank.
The bezel for this switch is marked: R FUEL TANK L
Ford never offered saddle tanks or an auxillary fuel tank on the right (passenger) side.
If the genuine Ford auxillary tank description does not match yours, both auxillary tanks are aftermarket.
