I am trying to get one of two flatheads running, then get something built around that.

I like the H 226, parts are tough to find though. I can only imagine it being worse for the G 226. The 226 would fit stock in a 48-50.

If if you look around on Craigslist and willing to drive you can usually find a running 226 for about $200. The exhaust manifold alone is worth that.

226 was stock in 48 - 51's.

The trans you have will not work in those trucks. You would be better off looking for a stock 48 - 51 bellhousing and trans, if you want to put this in a truck.

I bought the '47 to get a flywheel for the '49
the price was fair on both
I'm in no hurry, just trying to make myself familiar with these engines

right now I'm trying to learn the quirks of these flatheads.
Also, find out if G drive line parts will fit the H.
I now have a trans, bellhousing, flywheel, starter, clutch, torque tube and a complete G engine. That would take a lotta money buying part by part
