Fuel filter removal

Well, it's done. What a F@%KING NIGHTMARE! Someone tried to remove the rear fitting without a tool. There were dents in the rear of the filter. The first tool I bought would not work. I returned it and bought the 5/16" scissor type for the same price. With it I popped the front off in less than a minute. The rear took 2 hours. Due to the front gas tank there was NO room to access the rear fitting. I had to remove the tank skid plate and the filter mount just to get my hand behind the filter. The tool would not insert completely into the line. Stopped about 1/8 short. I ended up cutting the filter line just to get the rear line below the frame rail so I could see what was wrong. Three of the prongs were bent in toward the filter flange. With just the filter line sticking out of the fuel line I was able to see the prongs and bend them out of the way. Then the tool would go all the way in and release the good prongs. The new filter doesn't really catch very well but the rear line only has about 6" of braided line before it goes to rigid so it can't just pop off. The metal clip will also help keep it in place. The front has a long braided line. If it was that one I'd be replacing the line. A test drive confirmed no leaking and it's noticeably smother. Thanks again for everyone's help.
