Front bolt pattern change
Thanks in advance.
Back ground: I have 2 1981 F100's.
1-power brakes small bolt pattern (parts truck)
1-non-power brakes large bolt pattern (project truck)
Note the 2 size bolt patterns and the type of brakes each uses.
I have aftermarket wheels for the projecttruck large pattern I wanted to keep but the truck had frozen king pins.
The other truck had good king pins so I swapped suspension over to the project and was going to swap rotors for the right pattern, calipers are the same between the 2 trucks.
Well you cannot swap just the rotors as the spindles are different for the 2 types of rotors. IIRC the rotor hits the caliper bracket before the rotor is on all the way.
So with that said if you could find a rotor with the right bolt pattern they may not (thinking will not) fit the spindle.
My fix will be to replace the bad king pins so I can use the right spindles for the large bolt pattern rotors.
So if your year truck had both size patterns I am thinking the spindles may be different also.
Good luck
Dave ----
