Wheel Bolt circle Question

i seem to remember some of the early 80-81 f100's having the 4.5" Bolt circle (Car pattern) wheels? am i correct or crazy? if im correct would these rotors swap with the larger truck pattern rotors?

thanks in advance.

Yes, early F100's did have the smaller pattern.

No, you cannot just swap the rotors. You rear would not match even if you could.

You can swap the whole axle beam that has the larger pattern, and it will bolt in. If you are changing the rearend ratio too, then get a rearend to match.

I personally don't think it's worth the hassle to swap them over.

There are plenty of nice looking wheels in the smaller bolt pattern that will fit right on your truck.

His question is a little misinformed here. He has a 69 f-100 and I think he is wanting the smaller rotors from the 81 to fit on the i beams of the 69. I believe he wants the car lug pattern on his 69.

The trucks with the small bolt pattern use a smaller spindle and wheel bearings, I highly doubt you'll be able to swap it over to an earlier truck.

is there really a wheel bearing difference? anyways, the non-HD power brake truck has the 4.5", the manual brake and HD power brake truck has the 5.5.

I would check the parts store and see if they list the same kingpins between the 69 and 81.

there are 2 size kingpins, IIRC the small pattern has the .8953" pin and the manual/hd braked larger pattern has the 1.054 pin

(Im pretty sure of this cuz I did mine a week ago)

so you would need to change the forged ttbs

to tell the truth, all things being equal...if u wanna make a change, ditch the forged ttbs for the stamped ones and go ball joint - just rip if off a different truck - and take the spring mounts as well, the forged ones have this cup shaped perch to make up the height difference it gives up to a stamped on.
