I have been looking for parts to make my crew cab a 4x4. There was a 76 f250 4x4 listed online. Has a divorced transfer case, a Clark 5 speed mated to a fresh 460 with title issues. I debated back and forth to make the 1000 mile journey to check it out. Well today I went to look at it and buy it. I wasn't too worried if it had a hd44 etc so I bought it. I get to the gas station and fuel up my truck I start poking around. I notice kingpins, it has a 60 in the front!!! I drive 200 miles back to where I am staying thinking I need to find a tape measure. Come to find out it is a 78 frame with a 76 cab.....score!! Frame is the same as my crew!! So sounds like the hot knife will be getting some action soon...
That looks like a cool truck, almost a shame to dismantle. The Hulk looks good too, and I'm not into any of the new trucks.
I decoded the VIN and it is a 76 f150 2wd cab with a 302. There is another vin below it issued by Iowa and it's a different number....I will try to figure it out, I am thinking it was wrecked and re inspected. I really had thought to get it back together and drive it. In Alabama, trucks this old only need a bill of sale and insurance to be registered.
Thanks on The Hulk, it looks puny without the 37s, but pulls like a freight train and is still getting 13.5 mpg, pulling the wind sail.
