They also sell an add-on feature to connect the system in the vehicle to your cell phone through an app for starting and locking and if the alarm gets triggered. Additionally if you add the GPS module and the vehicle is stolen or if someone besides you drives it, you will know exactly where it is just by looking at your cell phone.
why not just use the factory remote start already built into your truck.
You can buy the key-fobs on ebay for around $160 for two.
Enable remote start using forscan or have a dealer do it with IDS. should not cost more than an hrs labor.
3. get the forscan program and enable remote start
4. from what I'm seeing too, if I don't have both of the original 3 button keys, I'll have to get a locksmith or dealership program the 4 button replacements?!?!...sure hope that's NOT the case huh...
If you don't have 2 keys, then yes you will have to have them programmed.
For me, my total cost was less than $200.
I bought the 2 keys and the antennae from a ford dealer on ebay for $168. Took the keys to a locksmith to have them cut because ford wanted to charge more to cut them. Enabled remote start myself via ForScan. Later on I went back and added the peremiter plus (shock sensor) and led light from ford.
I think your better option is DA8Z-15603-C which is the bi-directional extended range option and should reach up into the headliner.
Just FYI, that antenna is not bi-directional. It's only used for the factory key remote start. It doesn't send or receive any signal for the long-range FOBs, including bi-directional FOB. A different antenna is used for those.
However, when enabling remote start with IDS, the DA8Z-15603-C must be plugged in regardless, otherwise remote start won't enable.
In addition, only the 16 Super Duty has it plug in up in the headliner. All 11-15 Super Duty's and 11-14 F-150's have it plug into the TPMS module behind the glovebox. The cable is short so it probably won't reach up into the headliner.

The one you linked is too short. That is the one I have and it does not increase the range that much. The one I listed, if I understand correctly, is long enough to be mounted up in the headliner. Ignore the bi directional part. Although I will say an aftermarket two way is the best way to go if you want a true remote start, this is the cheapest method. Also, FORscan is the best option for activating remote start since IDS is cost prohibitive and the bootleg versions are not user friendly. In fact, IDS is not user friendly period.
