I know there are several old threads on this subject but figured I'd better start a new one. Everyone talks about double filters etc. before any of the standard fuel pumps to help prevent the HPFP pump from getting rust etc in them. Doing a little research. Doesn't it seem like the way too protect that pump is the stop the contaminates from getting to the pump in the first place? I have read about a By Pass Kit to route the fuel back to the fuel tank where the standard filters can actually do their job and filter out the aluminum specks that do the damage to the pump. I won't list one site where I saw this bypass HPFP kit because I have know relation to them or anyone else. However it really seems like that would be the fix. In that the standard filters don't see these contaminates until it's to late what good are they.
If I am way off with my thinking I would like to understand how that wouldn't work. And it's a little cheaper price why's also.
