I've recently been having a lot of issues with my truck mainly performance and sound wise so I took it too a shop, they took a look and I'm blowkng coolant from my degas bottle and other places along with most my fuel injectors being weak Or not working, they recommend a complete engine rebuild along with studding, they said they would do it for around 6K. Is that a good Deal?
Hard to answer. It depends on what constitutes their "complete rebuild". If it includes machine work, piston rings, main and rod bearings, that's a smoking good deal.
If it's head gaskets and studs, oil and EGR coolers, maybe a couple of updates (which are different depending on Year model) and a new set of Ford injectors. It's about right to me. Prices do vary a little by geographical area also.
All this assumes the shop is knowledgeable on the 6.0 and has the special tools necessary to do the job, AND your heads are not cracked.
No-one can rebuild an entire 6.0 for $6k. It's more than that in ****in parts. Be realistic. Anyone that tells you they can do the rebuild at that price is full of crap and you should find another reputable shop. Watch some of Anthony at Super Duty Service videos and he'll tell you why a $6k stud job is a joke. Geez and we wonder why the 6.0 gets a bad rap.
2nd edit of my post but I can't help myself...
I'd have serious doubts about their knowledge of the psd after that quote. Then again maybe their "thing"is to quote low to get the job and later when your truck is in pieces they'll hit you up for another $15k. I'd like to punch that guys momma in the mouth.
