TICKING!!

I'm new to the diesel world, so all advice or opinions would be appreciated. I've got an 2016 F250 Diesel 6.7 PowerStroke, which I bought fresh off the lot, and just got my regular oil change and tire rotation today, thru a local Ford Dealership. I'm working out of town, so I didn't take it to my home dealership as I have been every 5,000 miles since I drive a lot for work. As of today, I'm currently at 47,000 miles. Just to stay on top of things, any time I'm asked to get any type of extra additives, or filters needing to be changed, I do so. I don't like bad surprises when it comes to vehicles. So after getting my truck serviced today, and back to work, I notice a constant "Ticking" but do not know why. Thought maybe after running it all day at work, not literally all day, that it would go away. I took it in at 7:00am, and here I am at 9:30pm, and it still ticking. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I'm definitely going back to the dealership in the morning to question it, before I head home for Memorial wknd. But I don't want to get BS'd by a different dealership, trying to get more money out of me. So, please help!

What kind of ticking are you hearing? Is it heard only on the left side near the left front fender well?

Did they use the same oil as was used in the past? Are you sure?

Use the search feature and search for typewriter.

Exactly. Use the forum search as stated above and search for "typewriter" as it is a pretty common "tick" right after an oil change.

Sorry for the late response guys, I'm working out in B.F.E. and internet was down. @Golfmedik, that's exactly where the "Ticking" was coming from. They explained to me that it was normal right after an oil change, and as of now, the tick is gone. I also asked the dealership how often should I come in for an oil change just to see if they tell me the same as my Home dealership. They told me every 7,500, and I explained to them, with all the driving that I do for work, I prefer to come in every 5,000. Is that ok or recommended? Sorry if these questions are a waste.

Thanks!

@ Lynnmor,
from what I know, they used Fords standard Synthetic Blend oil for Super Duty. Being that I didn't plan on getting an oil change at a different dealer, I'm not sure if it's "standard" oil for all Ford Dealerships.

I've changed mine at 5,000 miles so far. This time I may let it go until the truck tells me to change it as it knows how it has been run. There is an app in truck that keeps track and will let you know when to change it if you so desire. LOTS of people here do that.

I had my dealer give me a free oil change one time. They put in far too much of the wrong oil. Sent a sample to a lab and they confirmed it was the wrong oil, but no apparent engine damage. Never again, I cannot afford free!

Different oils can add to the ticking issue, so that is why I wonder if you now have different oil from the previous change. I also fill the filter before installation so as not to push air thru the lifters. I don't know if the air causes ticking after the initial purge, but I do know that oil is better than air. I never had the ticking issue.

I use the oil life feature because of varied use throughout the year. Heavy towing brings the message on sooner. Just using miles will not account for varied use.
