Flashing OD light, Flashing 4x4 light, weird bounce in tac around 45-50 mph
Hello,
To begin with, I was given this vehicle a few weeks ago and have little knowledge of the vehicle's history. It is a 2000 Lincoln Navigator 4x4. I was told that the engine was replaced around 40k miles ago, but I wasn't told anything beyond that. There are several minor issues which I am working on fixing, but this issue has me stumped.
The first thing I noticed was that the gear shift was sloppy and the needle didn't line up right. I tightened the gear shift and adjusted the needle. That was no biggie. I was hoping that these simple things may correct the OD light flashing; however, I had no such luck. The next thing I did was take the steering column covers off and check the wiring (I read on another forum that the wires could have become brittle and lost adequate contact), but this was not the case. The wiring was in perfect condition.
A few days ago, I realized that the switch was set to 4H instead of the A4wd. I switched it to A4wd, and the 4x4 light on the dash started flashing. It doesn't flash when in 4H, so I switched it back for the time being.
The last thing that has me concerned is that the tachometer bounces around 45-50 mph. If I let go of the gas pedal for a moment before accelerating harder, the bounce stops and the truck seems to correct itself.
My first question is: is it possible that these three symptoms are related to a single issue?? I have read through multiple threads and none of them include all of the issues that I am experiencing. Many of them are focused on either the OD light exclusively or the 4x4 light/abs light. I haven't found any threads on the bouncing tachometer (it is hard to explain but it feels like I am pressing and releasing the gas pedal over and over again). Does anyone have any idea what could be going on here?
Also, I am getting ready to go have the codes read. I will be back with the specific codes later this afternoon. I just want to get the symptoms on here and start the brainstorming process.
PS- I am a student and have children, so I cannot afford mechanic prices. I have always researched and applied what I learn towards fixing my own problems This is my first 4wd vehicle and my first automatic transmission, so I am basically starting the learning process all over again lol Thank you in advance for anyone kind enough to help me work through this.
Okay, here are the codes:
B1932
B1998
C1230
C1229
B1676
P1000
P0705
P0715
P0717
P1702
P0442
P0401
P1131
P1151
P0174
Other potentially relevant information is that none of the controls in the steering wheel work (including the horn) and I have checked every fuse in the dash as well as under the hood. The interior lights also do not work. The sunroof will only open and vent (close does not work.. that was not fun to find out the hard way). I don't even know where to start... but I can't afford to just replace parts on a whim. Can anyone please help me get a grip on this?

there's a vacuum leak causing the p0174 code and p1131/p1151. You have to find where that leak is, could be any of the vacuum hoses and/or intake manifold. Clean the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner.
Somebody probably did some work on the steering wheel causing the other errors (the spring there could be broken). Fix the lean condition first (vacuum leak)
