just bought a 2011 F-350 with out cruise control. I have found the correct steering wheel with cruise control buttons, and I am assuming the ECM/BCM will need to be programmed to make it work. Does the wire harness have to be replaced? or is every thing there already?
Would think if it's drive by wire throttle body, switches and programing would work but no experience. Pontiac did that before the end. All you needed was the switches. I'm curious to see if you get some hard evidence from someone. I've never looked on my 2012 with cruise to see if it has a servo. Could ask a dealer if the clockspring is different for with or without.
There is a parameter in the BCM for cruise or no cruise. Not sure if this setting will activate cruise or not with the new wheel. Not sure if there is a different clock spring or not.
based on the research I have done, there is only one clock spiring listed on motorcraft.com parts site.
I have heard from several people that the base model (XL trim) trucks were sometimes assembled with a different wire harnesses because of limited options and attempts to reduce costs. not sure if that applies here.

I doubt it for the cruise. I have an XL with manual windows and locks. Yet it is optioned with cruise and sinc(giving steering wheel audio controls). I will say that the harness for power windows, locks and mirrrors is not ran in the door though.
My factory BCM also ran the factory fog light kit I added after buying the kit with an xlt BCM because that's what the dealer said I had to have. They did refund me the cost of the BCM luckily.
Forgot to update this thread. It was as easy as I had hoped.
basically I bought a new steering wheel, Installed the new steering and correct switch for my application and found a friend that had an IDS tool to enable cruise control in the BCM and it works.
I could have just added the correct cruise switch to my existing steering wheel, but it was the molded plastic style and the steering wheel was falling apart, leaving foam and rubber in your hands every time you touched it. I bought a new Ford leather wrapped wheel on ebay for $175... which was a very nice upgrade.
The new steering wheel came with a (left) 5 button menu switch and (right) audio controls. My truck doesnt have those options, so I replaced the 5 button switch with the correct 3 button switch and removed the audio controls and replaced it with a blank.
