Exclamation 1996 Backup Lights Not working

I have a 1996 F150 4.9L with a manual transmission. The backup lights have not worked since I have owned the truck. In my attempt to diagnose the issue I found a wiring issue in my transmission harness, bypassed the transmission switch, confirmed that the switch wires have power, checked the fuse, and confused myself about the pin-out off the rear connector. I can't seemed to find a pin out of the rear connector. The connector is the same one used for the brake lights, and is an 8 pin connector with only 6 pins. I have 3 12v wires in the connector, and what appears to be 2 ground wires. I have one wire that has neither a ground nor power. During the testing I had the ignition on and the transmission switch connector jumpered. I jumpered the connector such that I wouldn't have to keep it in gear, and to take what could be a faulty transmission switch out of the equation. I haven't checked the rear taillight harness for continuity to the backup lights, and do not think its important until I have the connector diagnosed. I do not know where to go from here.
