My dashlights went out.... along with my running lights....
I hit a bump hard, and all the lights on my truck went out. i replaced a 15 amp fuse for the brake lights and such... but my running lights and dashlights are out... i tried testing the fuse slot for my running lights for power, and didn't get anything.. but i have continuity from the main fuse block into the cab fuseblock....
i guess i should probably check the lights switch next eh? any other ideas?
Look for a bad connector. trace the feed wire back to the ignition switch and look for a poor connection there. If everything else on the "run" circuit is working it must be a problem between the ignition switch and the lights themselves. check the ground circuit as well. If you have to, install new fuses and ohm the entire circuit from ignition switch to ground. With the light switch on you should have continuity. if not, go from connector to connector till you get continuity.
hey there. well.. i actually have to admit. i figured it out. i took the truck to the local garage, and the dummies changed my "shorted out trailer harness" for 75 bucks... the shop owner told me, "you could smell the harness"... i drove around for a week, and the exact same problem occured.... so obviously they didn't fix it......... so i took a look at the new harness.. no shorts. but i did smell burning. turns out, it was my license plate bulb socket that had a meltdown...... oh well. =/ it hasn't shorted out since
