Ever seen one of these? It's a cord reel trouble light with a magnetic base that acts as a hood light when retracted. Is this a Factory option? I think I'm going to add an LED bulb to it after I clean it up. Still works!
Yes, I have one on my truck. It was a factory option on 1980 - 1986 F-Series and broncos.
The 1987 and later trucks got a much smaller conventional under hood light that wasn't nearly as cool.
Did you get the wire and ground strap too?
The blue end simply plugs into a long wire which plugs into a factory connector on the driver's side. The ground wire connects under the hood beside the light. The underhood light also used a separate ground strap to connect the hood to the firewall on the passenger's side.
These trucks are getting on over thirty years old now, so they are getting harder to find in good condition.
