In FL we have to have the pistol "2 moves" away. My truck gun is a full sized CZ 75b in a pistol pouch in the drivers side door compartment near my left hand. I carry extra mags in the "Super Duty" small glove box compartment above the bigger glove box. I struggled for a while trying to figure out what to put in that box area........extra mags have work well there.
I like the Go Magnet solution, simple & effective.
I am more concerned w/ theft AND where/how to secure weapons when I can NOT carry or need to lock things up.
I installed a console safe, it'll keep a crack head thief (who doesnt have much time) out of it and honest people honest but it also could delay my own access - ill likely be adding some go magnets!
Looking at that already.... and aftermarket consoles too.
Ford accessories sells the console safe. My understanding is that it's a very simple install and retains the factory look.
I know that you can only order the safe from the factory if you have the full console, however, Ford sells the safe for both the full console and the split bench on their accessories website. It isn't cheap, but it's an option.
The magnet is a TERRIBLE idea. The idea of a loaded weapon flopping around in the cab during a wreck is just crazy. There is absolutely no retention and nothing to guard the trigger so that is a total no go for me.
The under steering wheel mount is a pretty good idea but the universal fit leaves something to be desired. I have had good luck with Texas Custom Holsters. I have had one of there holsters in the last two truck I have had. I did have to add a strap for retention.

I went to a holster like this because it was brought to my attention in a pistol class how long it takes to bring a pistol to bare from the 4:00 position with a seatbelt on. I found it even worse while trying to do it under stress. The best solution I found was the holster from Texas custom. It does require that you drill some holes in the panel under the steering wheel.
