I posted a few days back about some issues my ,96 f250 7.5 was having. Well I have a new one. Drove to pick up some furniture and transmission began acting up. RPM's at idle increased to around 1400 rpm and transmission was shifting erratically and not shifting into OD at all. Went home and did the old school OBD1 test with the jumper wire and I think I pulled a code for the throttle position sensor. If I recall, isn't the TPS linked to the electronic transmission somehow? I really hope so seeing as how my lightning is currently having tranny issues. I can't afford two rebuilds LOL. Thank you.
If I remember auto class correctly, the TPS will talk to the pcm about how late to shift based on how deep your foot is down on the gas. So yes they talk, I just cannot recall if they talk directly or indirectly.

I use an old needle type meter to check the TPS. If the needle jumps the TPS is bad. It is a problem that is easily missed and can cause craziness in otherwise reasonable people.
I'm kinda surprised there's a code for the TPS. Maybe an "out of range" code.
