late high rpm shift
Hi guys, thanks in advance for your help. Problem is that my 95 f-150
5.0 will intermittently go into a mode of high idle and will not shift to
second until i reach about 40mph. (can sometimes fool it to shift earlier
by messing w the gas pedal) Engine light will come on for a few seconds
but goes back off..Auto zone says they cannot get a code unless the
light is on. Also seems to have a lack of power when it does this.
Any idea's?

My guess would be a bad Throttle Position Sensor. I would also guess you have an OBD1 computer system and you will have error codes stored. If you go to fordfuelinjection.com you can see how to test the TPS and also how to pull the codes without a code reader (providing it is OBD1).

Yea thanks a million.. Tried the self test and drove myself crazy
until I found out that a 95 has a 3 digit code instead of 2.
Got 121 and 124 which are both tps faults.
