Ok - this is sort of a continuation of a transmission thread I posted a couple of weeks ago. But I need an answere from both tranny experts and none tranny experts so I am starting this thread.
I checked my codes today and got code 111 (everything fine code) while the engine was not running. However, When I checked the codes with engine running, I got code 167 "Throttle Position sensor fault during dynamic response test." That means my TPS is bad right???? or does that mean the stupid code reader just couldn't read it during test? thanks for your help so far guys!
That code means that you didn't have WOT when you were suppose to before it gave codes during KOER. read the instructions carefully again about the dynamic response test in KOER.
Wide open throttle. The TPS can cause alot of problems. When mine went bad it kept the injectors from opening causing no power and caused the transmission to do some strange things, like shift into neutral between 1 and 2 until you let the rpms come down and to shift 3-4 at once with no delay between them.
Ok - so basically, The TPS is bad - or isn't?? please say "Yes" or "No." based el conquistador response, I need to test again - although I've tested three times in a row. El C. Said that colde 167 means that there was no WOT. Is that because of the TPS or because I didn't rev it high enought when testing. Thanks so far!
During the course of the KOER test, there comes a point where you must momentarily give it full throttle (WideOpenThrottle). You either didn't give it FULL throttle, ALL the way, or you didn't do it for quite long enough. When the time comes, quickly FLOOR it (nail that gas pedal down), keep it there and let the tach hit, say, 4000 rpm then let off promptly; it's not expecting you to keep it floored very long. This event, lasting roughly 1/2 - 3/4 second or so will not harm your engine. At this point we don't know if the TPS is/is not bad.

Yeah - you were right - I got code 111 after I reved the engin up. I wish I could just get a stinkin error code once in a while. thanks for all your help.
Does anybody know where the ABS tester is on the 1994 ranger - i can't seem to find it?

Well, the wire I assume you're looking for should be on the drivers side, and it's under the carpet right about where the parking brake pad would be if you could press the pad to the floor/carpet. Pull the carpet back a tad, beginning up high.
