Cruise control button interchangeability question - Help!
I have a 1997 Ranger Splash, 2wd, ext cab, 4,0 5spd . . .
My cruise control buttons have kind of disintegrated over the years, and I wanted to replace them. However, everything I search online shows this:
The controls for 1998-2005 look identical, and I can get them aftermarket for $32 on EBay. (SW-5928)
Cruise Control Switch REPLACES OE# SW-5928 F87Z-9C888-BB
However, the 1997 cruise control buttons seem to only available in Motorcraft, and cost a whopping $160. (SW-5919)
From researching this, it sounds like the 98-2005 switches have green LED backlights, and the 97 switch has blue. From what I understand, that is the only difference, and the plugs are the same.
. . . but I may be wrong. Can anyone else confirm this?
I would rather have green backlights on my cruise control buttons and save $130, but I don't want to mess up my truck or waste money on something that won't fit.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe try a salvage yard to opt for a used one.
My 99 Ranger was in a group that had many of the back ground lighting omitted for a limited time on TSB, so none of my steering wheel controls are back lit.
