His won't beep, but if you apply the turn signal on the side with the vehicle, the light will flash intensely...making the assumption you are checking your mirror as you pull out.
Maybe he is thinking about cross traffic, which will actually beep like crazy if you are backing up and a vehicle is approaching from the left or right...
I think you miss where I said my wife's car!!! She has a 2013 Mazda CX9.
I also wish the BLIS would beep when the turn signal is activated and there is something in your blindspot. I like this feature in our Mazda. In the truck, I tend to use the smaller mirrors to check for vehicles in my blindspot and don't even notice the BLIS light in the top outer corner of the mirrors.
Frankly, it is rather useless in the truck. Thankfully, I'm in the habit of using the mirrors correctly. Still, it would be nice if the system was more like Mazda's.

I don't find the BLIS to be terribly useful on the truck when not towing, but the rear cross traffic feature works very well, and the extended BLIS is useful while towing.

Sadly, BLIS doesn't work with a gooseneck, which I didn't discover until after I had bought the truck. From looking at Ford's sales brochures, they always picture a truck hauling a gooseneck with the BLIS blurb right below that. A bit misleading in my opinion. Thankfully, the truck is blessed with some excellent mirrors. While BLIS would be nice just in case I miss something, the mirrors are more than adequate.
For myself, BLIS is useless. I do like the rear cross traffic a lot. Also wish I had a bit more control over the cameras. All those wonderful cameras and I can't pick and choose when I can use them. Even extending their useful speed to 12~15 mph would be helpful.

As the OP this is my thoughts exactly about BLISS and how I use my mirrors. I don't even see the light as I almost always use the smaller mirrors.
He means it flashes if your turn signal is on, but still that would get old in heavy traffic.
I would love to have the option to have the beeping on and off when using the turn signal. As you get old, it is not easy to see the light on the mirror in heat of the moment.

Yes, I have the same problem. When focusing the lower mirror during the lane change BLIS light is easy to miss especially in busy traffic.
With todays technology there's no reason the truck can't speak to you. It could say "Traffic" when BLIS sees a car in the blind spot with signal on, or when cross traffic alert signals. Other phrases like "Release parking brake" or "Eco mode" could be useful. Airplanes talk to pilots, and wav files aren't that big. As is now, many times you have to look down at the cluster to figure out what the latest bing-bing is about.
On higher trims you could select from several voices, Reba McIntyre, Chris Rock, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alan Jackson, Bart Simpson... you get the idea.
Really? Why does it matter what type of trailer you pull?
The BLIS sensors are in you tail light housing/lenses. The bodies of many trailers, especially gooseneck and 5th wheels, obscure the "view" of the sensors because the trailer is so close to the rear of the truck and quite wide as well. Bumper pull trailer bodies are a little further away from the truck so BLIS is often (not always) compatible with that type of trailer.

That sucks and you're right. False advertising or at least false implied feature.
