Why does BLIS not beep

Curious why the BLIS does not provide an audible beeping vs. the flashing it does in the mirror. I find the beeping is much better indicator than just the flashing icon in the mirror.

I would think if it beeped every time someone was in your blind spot, that's a lot of beeping.

He means it flashes if your turn signal is on, but still that would get old in heavy traffic.

My wife car only beeps when the turn signal switch is turned on otherwise it lights up as our ford does. I wish ford would allow beeping when I turned on my left or right blinker when a car is next to my truck.

Jjmcc2, exactly right. My car beeps when I use the turn signal if someone is in the blind spot. The flashes that the SD uses is not as good IMO. Was hoping there was a setting I missed to make the beeps be audible. Oh well.

It's a bit of a danger when one car has a feature we come to rely on and then another doesn't. Ever cost to a stop and stall the car because you hadn't driven a manual for a wee or two? I have! We become dependent on the features. But other than rigging something up on the aftermarket, Ford does not make any beeps for the BLIS.

I find the little LED hidden inside the mirror face to be very difficult to see during the daytime. It is too inconspicuous. I wish Ford had used a larger light on the inside edge of the plastic mirror housing like other manufacturers, or even a light by the A pillar.

Being someone with an hour commute each way in bumper to bumper traffic, the beep would drive me insane. I still dont use the BLIS as we have the best mirrors on the market.

BLIS

Bliss is a aid. Don't completely rely on it. Please turn your head and use your mirrors.

If you relied on BLIS in traffic you never change lanes, it is simply on all the time.

The beep only comes on when you turn the blinker on and someone is in the blind spot otherwise it is just the light just like you have it today.

Well said. Whenever I change lanes, I turn on turn signals, check my mirrors and turn my head before changing lanes. If that light flashes as I am about to turn, it definitely stops me.

His won't beep, but if you apply the turn signal on the side with the vehicle, the light will flash intensely...making the assumption you are checking your mirror as you pull out.

Maybe he is thinking about cross traffic, which will actually beep like crazy if you are backing up and a vehicle is approaching from the left or right...
