Prior to 2003 when I purchased this truck, I was a familiar face at the Autozone purchasing and sometimes exchanging rebuilt calipers for various vehicles. I did not change the brake fluid regularly.

Since then I have not replaced a caliper on either the Ford or the 2007 Subaru. I change the brake fluid around every 3-5 years and I use Valvoline Dot 3/4 Synthetic. It's an easy job which takes little time and for me it has been a successful endeavor. For the most part, I use Valvoline fluids where appropriate in the vehicles and have been completely satisfied with the technical support and product performance. I should probably add that I use Wagner Thermo Quiet Pads which may not have the same requirements as high performance pads. All rotors on both vehicles are original. I tow a 30' fifth wheel with these brakes and fluid.

I use the same brake fluid (Valvoline Synthetic Dot 3/4). Works well for me.

I have flushed the system 3 times in the 11 years I have owned the truck. So it is about every 3 years. 200k miles (almost) and all is well.

I meant to be on a 2 yr cycle, but unfortunately I am a basic procrastinator ............

You and me both Mark. The MB I do at 2 years because of the maintenance requirements. The SD every 2, 3 years at the most. Even do it on the 1969 Mustang. When I can see the difference in color ther's no argument for me. People can do what they want.
