My wife drives a 2010 Fusion SE. The other day when, driving home in the rain I noticed that when I put the wiper on the first intermittent setting. After a couple of swipes it would start to continuously wipe. Then after a couple minutes it would go back to intermittent wipes. This would happen whichever setting I would put it in except if it was on continuous wipe speed. At one time I tried to turn it off and it stopped in the middle of the windshield.
What could this be? Do I have to replace the wiper control arm/module, if thats what it is?
Sorry for the off topic but the wife insisted I try you guys
Thanks for any advice.
Does it have automatic wipers? My vw has a sensor mounted in the rear view mirror mount that detects how much rain is on the windshield and adjusts the wiper speed continuously.
This is probably a stretch but my C5 ZO6 had the wiper motor connector on the bottom of the motor. Around the motor was a rubber cover with 3 drain holes in the bottom. Over the years it filled up with dirt and debris and stopped the holes up. Water would get in the connector when it rained but would be fine when dry. The wipers did the same thing yours are doing. Like I said this is a stretch but you might want to check your connector.
