that is the case for me, my cab and pedal is from a 77 and the booster/master cyl is from a 74.
your saying it's tough to get it ajusted correctly? can't i just set it too the 15/16" and i'll be on my way?
No because the pedal is sloppy because the mechanical advantage is wrong with mixed parts . I been through this. It took 2 months to figure it out. My truck was pieced together so I didn't know at first. It's all now now
Yup. I can gerrantee mixed parts are the problem. U have to find the parts as a set for. A 79. I had to buy a whole junk 79 f250 for the parts . Don't bother trying parts to match yours. Just get all the parts from the same parts truck the 79 pedal has a particular part number on it. But I forget the number . Good luck. If u must drive the truck carry thec9/16 wrench and broom stick with u.
p
since my booster and master are from a 74 can i just swap the pedal from my 74 parts truck. or should i be swapping master and booster to match the pedal in the cab which is 77.
If all parts are from the same truck then it may work. But in my research the 79 Brake parts are not the same as prior years . If u have all the parts from another year and put in in a 79 cab it may work maybe not.
Winginit you were right. Would have been the last place i looked. thanks
Well i sorted out why my brakes were hanging up.
When i did the cab swap i kept the brake pedal with the cab.
aparently the braket for mounting the brake light switch varies in size depending on the year.
The braket was too long in my case, not alowing the peddle to release all the way out.

Good deal. Yup that's what happened with my cab. Ok so know you know the brake components have to match.
Let us know what brake pedal set u installed in the 79 cab. I am curious to know if other year brake assembly's will properly fit the 79 cab.
After you get all the parts installed adjust that rod to 15/16ths and then put on the break resivour.
When you bleed the brakes if the back is higher than the front it could be a pain to bleed. Keep us posted.

Not really a 79 either, mines a real miss match.
79- frame/box/front clip
77- cab
74-engine/trans
my master cyl and booster are from my 74, so i made sure the brake booster mounts measured the same, and they did. so i swapped the pedal only from the 74.
So far so good. Cheers
