Need some help with shackle length

How long is the factory front axle shackle? I'm looking to incorporate them into my current '86 F-250 Dana 60 setup, but don't have any of my old notes.

The shackle pictured is a 2" lift shackle that is 11" long. Was installed on my old 2002 X. That makes me think the OEM shackle is 9".

Stock is 5". You're going to want to measure from center of hole to center of hole.

How does a raised shackle kit smooth out the ride ?

80-97 trucks have the shackle in the front of the leaf vice the 99+ which has the shackle at the rear

I want to use OEM components to do the RSK as much as possible. Factory X shackles are about the right size so that I can retain the same amount of lift once I move stuff around. I have 5 leafs in the front pack. Intend to remove 3 of those.

The picture above was just for reference. I am not using a lift shackle

Wait wut ?

You are going to put the shackle up front on the Ex ?

Pretty sure the OEM put the shackle in front of this 80-97 trucks to help with braking. most people switch the shackle to the back thinks it helps the ride. Where a shackle in front can be a benifit is rockcrawling or hard 4x4 usage because when the front wheels are pulling the shackle does not allow the spring to swing forward and pull the drive shaft out.

If you are doing a Shackle reversal and putting the shackles in front to achieve a better ride I'd strongly suggest you first get leafs with the correct spring rate ( likely 380 ft. Lbs. inch. ) and then a set of shocks that are valved correctly.

RSK for the 80-97 models involves fixing the front point (no shackle) and putting shackle in the rear

no I am not putting X shackle in front. Different width for frame horn alone prevents that from working. And Waste time
