Intermittant Acceleration Hesitation

Hi,

Finally registered on this site after hearing good things from others who are currently on here. Been a 6.0 PSD owner since buying the truck since new in 2003-F250 CCSB. I have done regular maintenance on it and have had a good run until recently. Everything is stock on the motor and currently has 229 000 miles.

I will describe my current problem:
I have borrowed my brother’s tablet and have the following numbers from the Torque pro app. While trying to accelerate it now has a hesitation and seems to not have the power.
At idle: 630 psi HPOP, 24 % IPR, 47 volts FICM, ICP volts .1
Trying to accelerate on at highway speeds: 1230 psi HPOP, 83% IPR, 47 volts FICM, ICP volts 2.6
Also, sometimes when starting the truck it seems to rev extra high for a split second.

My brother says I may have a high pressure leak on the system.

Can anyone suggest what I should check first?

Thanks in advance.

I would change out the ICP and the connector first if you are actually seeing 0.1 volt at idle. You should be seeing apprx 0.8 volts. Also, 2.6 volts should be around 2000 psig.

Then I would get the data again to see if you truly have a leak (or low HPO pressure) issue.

Thanks.

Should the ICP voltage be checked with the engine running/idle? I checked it key on, engine off.

From the post above, you said .1v was at idle. Could you please clarify that?

Hi.
So I replaced the icp and pigtail with new Ford parts. Truck started right away and had my brother's tablet on. Truck ran fine for a few miles and then died and had to get towed by my brother.Tried to start it again and had the following numbers while cranking the motor:
HPOP 1310
IPR. 43%
FICM. 48 volts
FICM SYNC. 1
Cam/Crank Syn. 1
ICP Voltage. 0
RPM. 0

When the truck first started the ICP read 0

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Get the codes read.

can you get the V-reference voltage when cranking?

Thanks Mark,

I had a quick look at my brother's truck later on and it still had a low icp circuit code, 2285. We have had the battery charger on for some time so the motor cranked over no problem. I had the Torque Pro on and while cranking I had no ICP voltage registering. What seemed strange was while doing so it seemed to catch and almost want to start and then suddenly it stopped and then would not crank at all and there is no click at all on the starter when the key is turned on to start.

I left the battery charger on low so the batteries would be full for the morning.

Thanks,

Rob(ToolmakerRob)

Took the yellow wire near the vacuum pump and touched the positive battery terminal. Starter cranks over but I don't hear the fuel pump running or the injectors clatter when I turn the key on. Fuse for the fuel pump fuse has power to both sides of I touch the tops to ground. Also swapped the starter and PCM relay with a new one.

Not to hi jack but koeo icp voltage should be .19. That said I couldn't get torque pro to display the second digit in the icp value so i only see .1 as well on torque. My scan gauge does display the value correctly so i don't worry about it. Someone using torque please correct me if I did something wrong setting that pid up. When reading the icp voltage the second number is critical to know the health of the sensor.

Sounds a lot like you may have a bad crank shaft sensor (no rpm reading) and a sync problem, but the codes should help confirm.

Hi Mark,

When I checked the codes last night only the 2285 was present but my RPM read 0 on the tablet while the cam/crank sync was 1.
What baffles me is the fact that the starter does nothing( except that the starter relay does click under the dash in the fuse panel. and I can't hear the vacuum pump and injector buzz.

Blakshukvw-you are not hijacking anything-any help is appreciated. I often wondered as well how to get the second digit to display on the ICP volts.

I went so far as to go in and move the decimal or add the next digit manually, can't quite remember now, anyway it didn't change it. That pid is kind of useless since it doesn't show the second digit unless your first digit is a 2 I guess.

Oh and to the op problem, possibly bad ignition switch? I've never heard to much on the forums of them being problematic but I guess it's possible.
