4x4 issue HELP?!?!
I know there's some post on this already but I want to express my specific situation...
my truck.. when I got it the power mirrors didn't work the door locks and switch didn't work. I thought the whole time the gem was bad.. I fixed the locks with some Tim foil inside the lock module on both doors and I cleaned the switch prongs for the mirrors and the locks.. I thought they didn't work because a bad gem module.. I started on my ESOF **** cleaned prongs and tested for power and there is constant power to one wire. None of the other wires even while turning the ****. But still it doesn't go to 4x4 or light up on the cluster.. the auto hubs were replaced with manual Hubs and I don't the vacuum lines got capped off they're just hanging out.. I know it's not the transfer case because I installed a momentary switch to shift in 4x4 and it works.. but not from the ****.. do '01's have a 4x4 module on the passenger side kick panel? Can it be a bad gem? Or a bad power train control module? And what are the symptoms of a bad gem and power train control module??? I know it's a lot of questions but I appreciate the help...

Power in power out...You would think the switch is bad but I wouldn't go replacing just yet.
In a 2001 I think they use the gem...at some point they went to a separate 4wd module.
The switch has 3 resistors in it so maybe you won't see anything out..Check all fuses to the gem..
If you have a 2001 then its a gem...2002 went to a 4wd module I guess.
