Looking to replace my stock deck with something more modern. I have read older posts discussing issues with the Steering wheel controls and the rear DVD (which is stock).
Anyone know of a model that is plug and play as a replacement for the stock deck ?
They sell adaptors that make the steering wheel controls work. If you search on YouTube can see what wires you need for the stock DVD to work. I temporarily wired my stock DVD to work a few years ago while experimenting with radios. Its not hard at all.
The Joying HU I installed needed no adapters for the steering controls as the HU had programming to handle this. Just a Metra wiring adapter to match the truck wiring and plug. No mounts either as the unit fits tightly in the available space. Model is listed in my sig. Many have installed the Joying units. Dashcam, backup cam, BT and WiFi. It works well so far.
The brand of radio is your choice and I couldn't help you with that besides I used Alpine in my 1st Ex that a stereo shop did for me. They used a adapter so that I could use my steering wheel controls and ran coax cable to the DVD player that plugged into the front of it. Sorry that I can't help more, but I know it's possible.
