i have a 1995 f-150 that has the digital odometer just fooling around i healed the reset button in and turned the key to the on position and the speedometer went all the way over to 90 m.p.h and back and read E 08 97 so like a dummy i pushed the reset button again and it read 972CAL dose anyone have any idea what this is? or dose? thanks in advance.
Yes, E 08 97 means that you can still recalibrate 8 times before needing to purchase a new cluster to recal again (8 is maximum, so it has never been recal'd) 972CAL is the conversion factor (97.2 minus the decimal point) that the computer uses based on a signal from a sensor on the ring gear (rear axle). 972 is the stock conversion factor for the stock 235x75x15 tires. If you have much smaller or larger tires, that number needs to be changed for your speedo to read correctly.
What bothers me is that you should not have been able to get to that code without the PSOM connector wire being grounded. That wire is located under the glove box just about center.
You can get a full explaination of how to recal by doing a search on "speedo recal" here on this board. In several of the posts, that info is there.
