A/C air conditioning compressor problem??

Hi and thanks for any advice,

I'm hearing something that sounds like it's bouncing randomly around when i engage the air conditioner (sounds like shaking a rock in a sealed plastic bowl)

also....every once and awhile when i turn it on a hear something that sounds like clutch slippage for a split second and i can feel a slight vibration for that moment as well.

When i turn off the engine, I'm hearing a slight hiss from around the compressor.

What is this?

Is this the AC compressor going out or the clutch going bad or both?

that slippage is getting more frequent

i made a video and you can hear the slippage at 9 seconds exactly and if you listen really careful you can pick up the faint sound of the

2nd video is of the hiss with the engine off

Ideas as to what this is and how I can fix are appreciated?

Probably a failing clutch plate. Have you actually opened the hood and taken an actual close look at it?

The hiss after the system shuts down is not a problem, it's just the pressure equalizing through the orifice tube.

Yes, I've opened the hood and looked but I'm not sure what I'm looking for when it comes to the clutch plate. I'm not well versed in mechanics but have fixed alot on my explorer as it breaks.

I'll have to learn before i fix it.

You can see by the videos that I had the hood open and pinpointed the location of the issue.

thanks for your thoughts, I'll check into the clutch plate.

I wonder if the compressor could be failing as well.
