Ford Protect Premium Maintenance Plan

I couldn't find a thread on this anywhere so I thought I'd start one. Anyone have any experience with the Ford Protect Premium Maintenance Plan? My wife owned a BMW once and all the service was covered and I really liked that. My questions are:

1. Are they as painless as just taking your vehicle in for service and driving away happy when they finish? Or is there a deductible?

2. Do they provide a loaner while they are working on your vehicle or is that dealer dependent?

3. What did it cost and how long did it cover the vehicle?

4. If you've had one before, was it worth it and would you consider buying another one for you new Super Duty?

Thanks in Advance!

Most people tend to buy them from here from what I've read.

All the info is in the brochure.

I'm not talking about the extended service plan. I was looking for info on the scheduled maintenance plan. I didn't find anything related to that on the link you provided. Sorry if I missed it. Thanks anyway.

I had the maintenance plan on my 2016 Super Duty and am in the process of getting my money back since I just got a 2017 F350. They will prorate it (I only had two oil changes done on my 2016) and I will put the money on the same plan for my new truck.
In running the numbers, it was worth it. I got the 6 year, 60,000 mile plan and it was about $1700 dollars.
For both services I just made an appointment, showed up, they did the service and I left. Very simple and worth paying for it up front in my opinion.

I looked at the numbers they quote and what they "estimate" to do. They must drive much harder than I do because they list changing entire brakes several times, wipers, lights etc etc etc to pad the "value" of the package. I do scheduled maintenance on my F150 and I would rather just pay for it each time. I don't change wiper blades 2-3 times a year at 50 bucks a shot either! lol

I bought the service plan on my truck. The math I did came out to oil changes being about $20-$30 cheaper per oil change. Another reason why I did it was because if I ever have a problem with the truck while it's under warranty Ford will have less loop holes in getting out of paying for repairs if they are the ones doing the maintenance on the truck.

Not to mention for an extra couple bucks each month on my payment I know I have oil changes paid for the next 6 years.

I had the maintenance plan on my F150 and in the end I thought it was a waste of money. I can't remember what plan mine was exactly, but there were some limitations on how many visits the plan included and mileage constraints on when you could get them done. One of the times I had my truck in for service they said it needed new brake pads but it was earlier (less miles) than what the plan called for so I had to pay for the pads and they covered the labor.

I personally will change my own oil or watch for specials at the local shops for the standard oil changes and take you truck to Ford for the maintenance intervals that require something more technical.

To be fair it would depend on how many miles you put on a year, what plan you get and how flexible you are on scheduling your service.

Read the fine print.

You choose how long you want the service for ?
(year wise) and then you choose if you want 5k, 7,500 or 10k intervals.

if you take advantage of every service it is worth it IF you get a good price on it. But many prefer to do their own oil changes and fuel filters so in that case, skip it.

My contact for ESPs also sells the maintenance plans at $100 over cost so it is easier to be ahead by buying at that price. You can PM me if interested in getting one and I'll get you his info.

I purchased a 6/125000@7500 interval plan. It cover oil,oil filter, fuel filter ever other oil change, fill of DEF each OC, transmission fluid and filter @ 100k lube of bearing and front u joints etc. Flood has the plan for $37-3800 +- if you buy extended warranty with them. I take it in and pic it up. I don't have to dispose of oil, filters or any other waste. I count 17 oil and filter, 8 fuel filters and 17 times DEF fill at 6-7 gals@$5+ a gal.. Works good for me.

The maintnenace plan covers all the things above, it includes brake parts, belts, all light bulbs but the LED headlights, oil, filters, fuel filters, never have to buy DEF, transmission, transfer case, front and rear diffs, tire rotations. I have the 8 year warranty, 8 years service, up to 200,000 km. It's not cheap, but I can't buy even the ford oil and fuel filters and oil for the price I paid. Even the wiper blades, 50 bucks a set, 8 years, that's 400 bucks right there, for the cost. Yes, I can buy some of this stuff cheaper but if I have to buy warranty approved and prove it, this is a better way. Also, I take it in for all its service, with my extended warranty, there tends to be less quibbling about what has and hasn't been done, cause they did it. Like Travis says, and no old filters and oil to recycle. I have just done my first service, at a dealer I didn't buy the truck from, good service, drop truck off, shuttle to work, they pick me up to pick it up. Warrenty work if required done at same time. Local dealer has a separate diesel service and shop. Don't mix in with the cars and small vehicles.

Quick question for you guys that have a maintenance plan or know about them. If you purchase the maintenance plan that provides service every 5000 miles, will they change the oil every 5000 miles or do they only change it if the oil minder is saying the oil needs changing? I don't want to waste the money on a 5000 mile service interval plan if they'll only change it when the oil minder says it's needed. I would think the 7500 mile service interval would be closer to when the oil will say it needs changing. Thanks!

They change based on the interval you purchased, doesn't matter what the IOLM says. I personally if I wanted the dealer to do it would do the 7,500 mile interval. In order for it to be of value, you need to make sure you take full advantage of EVERY service... and go through my contact so you are only paying $100 over Ford cost lol.

And this is a Ford plan?
