Im confused
Ok so I have a 2000 eddie bauer expedition that's been great since I had it for about 2 years now with np problems. Untell my battery went bad (supposedly) so I got a new one. Then the alternator went bad so o got a new one. This is all back to back. But it still don't work. If you take the cabels off with the truck running it turns off. I did mess around with the fusebel link wires (before knowing what they were) because I had to make the wires longer for the new battery. Do you think this is the problem? If so can I just take out all th fusibel link wire and add my own regular theck wire. Also what should be connected to the negative side. ??? Because my negative goes to the starter and the positive goes there too. Is this right? I'm Becaus my friend did that and I think I read somewhere that its supposed to be ground. Engine engine. Body. No mention of starter. Any advice would be appreciated thank you. In advance.

You are correct on the grounds, check the alternator connector pig tail ( iirc you have one with 3 wires) and make sure they don't have chaffed wiring or are exposed they sell the pig tail at the dealer.
