12V 10A Source

Hi All,
I'm looking for a 12V source somewhere in the back of the vehicle. It will require at least 10A.
Usually, I would run power directly from the internal fuse box but there doesn't seem to be any user tappable sources like past designs. I'm hoping not to have to run a line all the way from the battery to service something clear in the back.
Anyone familiar with an easy 12V tap in the rear?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Will

Easy? Probably not.

I found two potential circuits:

The rear washer pump and rear wiper motor have power in the RUN/ACCY position via SJB F21 (10A), BN/W wire.

Next best would be having to go up to one of the the B-pillars and pick up power that runs to the window switch fed by the accy delay relay and SJB fuse F15 (30A). RD/LB wire.

If you need ALWAYS HOT, you'll have to run a new circuit.

Thanks for the hit.
I thought about the wiper motor myself. Wouldn't that only receive power when the wiper switch is activated? Or is the switching on the return?

The circuit off F21 is as described above. This line is used for the wiper parking function only, so it isn't switched by the logic for the operator's switch.

It does change from BN/WH to just BN somewhere along the way as I just noticed, looks like just before it enters the lift gate (upper right corner).

Yes, you did describe that earlier, my oversight. Thanks for the update on the BN wire. That should work as I don't need it to be always hot.

Another option would have been the pwr amp for the subwoofer. Unfortunately, there's not enough room to work with the wiring unless I remove the side panel. That would have been right next to where I'm installing the control panel.

Didn't even think of a sub-woofer amp since our Mariner doesn't have one. Didn't even know it was available on any Escape/Mariner!

I have taken those rear side panels out recently to replace the rear shocks, they're pretty easy to get out of the way. The power source for the amp is ALWAYS HOT, a RD/YE wire, and is fed by SJB fuse F16 (15A). Depending on your actual application, that might be the most desirable.

Our Escape had a power port in the rear on the driver's side. Not sure how many amps it was though.

You're the second to come up with that. I'm wondering if that was a special order because I've yet to see one in that location. Moot point for me though as mine doesn't offer it. Thanks for the thought.

Yes, the sub system includes an 8" woofer that has a tuned plastic enclosure that is pretty potent for a stock setup.
Thanks again for the correct pwr wire color on the amp. It has 2 plugs with multiple wires in each. If that panel removes easily, I just may go that route. Just have to figure out what's involved.
My application shouldn't exceed more than 10A.

Tributes seems to have that as standard too...might be worth looking and seeing if there is a spare plug for it if specified??

Turns out I'm going with the sub amp for power. It's only 12" away from where I need pwr. Thanks to projectSHO89 for the wire and fuse identification.

In case you were wondering, this is why I needed a rear 12V source.

Do you access the spare enough to warrant an electric winch?
