parasitic battery drain
I have a parasitic battery drain. I've run it down to the alternator. I pull the two wire connector near the top of the alternator and the drain goes away. Not being an expert on the charging system, I'm looking to get some comfirmation that the alternator is my problem. Or, that is how it works and I need to keep looking. Thanks.
The rest of the story as they say. I went out to the truck one morning and the battery is dead. Didn't see anything that I had left on. Charged up the battery. But, it just died again.
I had about a 4 amp parasitic battery drain. Went through pulling all the fuses from the under dashboard fuse panel. None of those were causing it. Pulled the electric connector near the top of the alternator and the drain went away. The connector near the side was on.
So, I'm looking for a comfirmation on the alternator being bad before going to buy a part I don't need.
I have a 1990 Ford F-250 with the 5.8 efi engine.
Thanks for the help
I did it on a 92 with a 94 JY 3G 95 Amp and help from this board. I took some of the wiring harness from the JY truck to splice into the 92
